January 29, 2011 – Coffield – Tennessee Colony, TX
The 2011 tour is off and running! I thought it might be fun to name this tour (we’ve never actually done this before) like the major touring artists do when they tour. A few names come to mind…”The Reason We Breathe Tour” or “Without Walls Tour” or “Salvation is Calling Tour” or “Presenting the Martindale’s Tour”…this is an inside joke!!! Anyway, if you are reading this and you have suggestions,
please send us a message via the Contacts page of this website. Sorry, there is no compensation for the winning idea other than some recognition in a future diary.
Our journey into the Coffield Unit this year was a bit different as we took a left turn just through the main gate and followed the cobblestone path to the back of the Chapel. This is our first time in this way and proved to be a viable alternative to clogging up the central receiving area with our gear. We appreciate all the strong backs that pushed and lifted with us. Overall, our turnout was good with about 300 in attendance and 6 decisions at the end of the day.
Our lesson today was from James 3. This book of the bible is believed to have been written by James, the half brother of Jesus. It is often called the “how to” book of the Christian life. This book is full of colorful illustrations which explain the responsibilities of being a Christian. In short, our lesson centered on taming our tongues, resisting pride, being sincere, giving our all, and being submissive instead of rebellious. By doing these things, we learn to be servants. You will never be a leader in God’s company until you learn to be a servant. God is looking for servants – not leaders! In turn, He promises that this submission results in a partnership with the Holy Spirit (Greek – “paraclete” which means, “one who consoles, one who intercedes on our behalf, a comforter or advocate”). This is the power that sustains us, delivers us, and carries us through those times when we want to do our own thing and be rebellious against His ways. In conclusion, submission is a lot better than rebellion. God resists the proud and exalts the humble. Anything less than your best for Him is unacceptable!
From The Dust is VERY gracious to Lieutenant Walker, Chaplain Rose, and the inmates for their outstanding support and assistance during our recent visit. God is Good!!!
