March 19-20, 2011 – Hamilton – Bryan, TX
There are times when church “happens.” Worship is anointed and corporately the body unites and participates with a humble spirit. The result is encouragement, strengthening of relationships, accountability, call to action and increased faithfulness. The gathering and participation together in worship keeps us plugged in to His family and protects our personal fellowship with God. Our time together with the church that meets at the Hamilton Unit was anointed, uplifting, amazing and “happening”. There is something about a group of broken and humbled sinners laying their burdens down that leaves us speechless and amazed at the grace and mercy of our Father. Praise the Lord!
Hebrews 10:23-25 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near.
The weather was perfect as we gathered outside underneath the covered basketball court. The weekend attendance was around 440 and 64 decisions were made to accept Christ. Once again we left changed and different from the way we came. We were encouraged and spurred to action and continued faithfulness from the church that meets at the Hamilton Unit.
The theme of our lesson this weekend centered on value. Many of us have never been encouraged or treated with the proper respect or love that confirms and validates our value. Unfortunately, our value is linked to the approval of others and this in turn influences our decision making process. How far are we willing to go to get the approval of others? Some would answer “too far,” as they reap the consequence of doing that cost them their reputations and, often, their freedom. We want approval of others because we fear rejection and the loss of something. Rejection results in feelings of worthlessness and fear of loss results in insecurity. Ultimately, we crave the acceptance and approval of others more than we value doing what is right in God’s eyes. Our prisons are full of men and women that need have fallen into this trap and need to understand the perfect love and acceptance of Christ our Lord.
His word is clear and our responsibility to deliver this message of encouragement is too!
Job 29:24 When they were discouraged, I smiled at them. My look of approval was precious to them.
Psalm 90:17 And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!
2 Timothy 2:15 Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
Ecclesiastes 10:12 Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words.
