August 19, 2011 – Recap

Supporters and Friends of From the Dust: Thanks so much for the continued support of our ministry. As we catch our breath, cool off, and replenish our spirits and minds for the second half of our schedule for 2011, we hope that all is well with you and your families. We apologize for falling behind on our diaries during these busy times. Our communication approach has changed a bit. As…

March 19-20, 2011 – Hamilton – Bryan, TX

There are times when church “happens.” Worship is anointed and corporately the body unites and participates with a humble spirit. The result is encouragement, strengthening of relationships, accountability, call to action and increased faithfulness. The gathering and participation together in worship keeps us plugged in to His family and protects our personal fellowship with God. Our time together with the church that meets at the Hamilton Unit was anointed, uplifting,…

February 12, 2011 – Michael – Tennessee Colony, TX

We had the pleasure of conducting two services at the Michael Unit this weekend. Weather was great. Turnout was good. Witnessed 10 responses to the message. We would like to thank the correctional staff and volunteer chaplain for help with the transition in and out of the unit. Our lesson focuses on the story of Naaman from 2 Kings chapter 5. Here we find a man of position, popularity and…

January 29, 2011 – Coffield – Tennessee Colony, TX

The 2011 tour is off and running! I thought it might be fun to name this tour (we’ve never actually done this before) like the major touring artists do when they tour. A few names come to mind…”The Reason We Breathe Tour” or “Without Walls Tour” or “Salvation is Calling Tour” or “Presenting the Martindale’s Tour”…this is an inside joke!!! Anyway, if you are reading this and you have suggestions,…

Supporters and Friends of From the Dust:

Thanks so much for the continued support of our ministry. As we catch our breath, cool off, and replenish our spirits and minds for the second half of our schedule for 2011, we hope that all is well with you and your families. We apologize for falling behind on our diaries during these busy times. Our communication approach has changed a bit. As we leverage technology, our post-gig communications about responses, prayer requests, thoughts and general ramblings etc. can be found first on Twitter and Facebook. We invite you to read and respond. We’d love to hear from you. The diaries of our travels, our schedule and other news will continue to be available on our website.

The first half of 2011 finished strong with visits to the Sayle, Hobby, Daniel and Wallace/Ware units. Just prior to our summer break, we performed at two new units in Colorado City on June 4th and 5th. The Wallace and Ware Units are together and share the same worship facility. The Ware Unit is a transfer facility and many of the inmates are processing into the system for the first time and a handful are back to serve more time. Needless to say, it is a time of reflection for many of these men as they contemplate what they’ve done, where they’ve been, and what their future may be. Regardless of the circumstances and the environment, the Lord is always in these places. The inmates overwhelming response to attend worship services resulted in the addition of another service on Sunday for a total of three for the weekend. Each service was a blessing to all and a time of life change for many. It was a great way to end the first half of 2011.

“The Evangelistic Harvest is always urgent. The destiny of men and of nations is always being decided. Every generation is strategic. We are not responsible for the past generation, and we cannot bear the full responsibility for the next one; but we do have our generation. God will hold us responsible as to how well we fulfill our responsibilities to this age and take advantage of our opportunities”.

– Billy Graham

Break is over and the second half of 2011 is only days away. We will worship with the ladies at the Murray Unit on August 28th in Gatesville, Texas. Following that we will serve in five more units with the last visit scheduled for early December. Please pray for us as we finish out this year. Our prayer list is long and we wish to share with all those prayer warriors out there hitting their knees to support this and other ministries that need it. Prayer works!

Please pray for:

  • Open hearts receptive to God’s message through music, words, and actions
  • Changed hearts and decisions to follow Jesus in the inmates, correctional officers /staff and their families
  • A revival to love and serve Christ by all people incarcerated within our prisons
  • Discernment in what and how we present God’s message
  • Safety while traveling and while inside the units
  • Ease of entry into the units
  • Reliable equipment / no breakage or needed repairs
  • Good health and protection from injury
  • Cool weather / cooperative weather
  • Ease of scheduling and booking units for 2012
  • Renewing of our spirits to serve and remain committed to this ministry
  • Ability to properly prioritize and maintain healthy life balance within our marriages, family, church, ministry, work, school and other areas of our personal lives
  • Continued donations to support our efforts in presenting the Gospel through music, preaching and bible distribution

We appreciate all the support we receive and pray that God’s blessing and will for you will be evident in your lives and will strengthen your walk with Him.

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14-15).
